How does the DNS filtering work?

To start the filtering, you need to set up the filtering policy and choose the categories of websites you wish to block using SafeDNS Dashboard. After that, all DNS requests from your network or devices are redirected to the SafeDNS servers, where each request is checked against the filtering policy rules. If a request does not belong to any blocked category and isn't on your Denylist, the IP address of the website will be returned and the web page will be opened. Otherwise, you will be redirected to the SafeDNS block page.

How to apply different filtering rules for each device on the network?

You can install the SafeDNS Agent and select which filtering profile to use on a specific computer or for a specific user. Other computers and devices will be filtered according to the settings of the whole network, router or server.

I have just applied new settings but nothing changed. What should I do?

Don't worry. It usually takes 5-7 minutes for the filtering to apply new settings. This happens due to the DNS cache. If you have multiple filtering policies, please make sure that you have chosen the correct one using the dropdown menu at the top before changing the settings.

You can clear your DNS cache using this guide
